Very Good!

We would like to congratulate Dutch City Development (DCD) and all the involved parties on achieving the BREEAM-NL Completion Certificate for Green Square Logistics IV. This is a remarkable accomplishment as it is one of the first projects to obtain the BREEAM-NL New Construction 2020 Completion Certificate. The score? 58.43%. This achievement earns the project the BREEAM-NL 'Very Good' designation.

"This project served as a fantastic starting point for us. How do we effectively apply the new rules and guidelines in practice? How do we collectively ensure a steep learning curve? In Aalsmeer, we were able to make significant strides in implementing these latest guidelines."

Project Manager Victor Verdonschot of Quadrant4 is also pleased with how the process unfolded. "Due to the new BREEAM-NL 2020 guidelines, the DCD Aalsmeer project demanded even more focus and dedication from all parties involved. I am exceptionally proud of the results we achieved. As a team, we have accumulated valuable knowledge that we can build upon."

Teamwork and Vision

DCD Aalsmeer, in collaboration with stakeholders, develops and delivers sustainable and high-quality real estate. BREEAM-NL plays a key role in this endeavor. The attainment of the BREEAM-NL Completion Certificate for Green Square Logistics IV required teamwork. It is the outcome of smart cooperation between DCD Aalsmeer and its stakeholders.

Project developers like DCD typically work based on predefined goals, which include an understanding of the location and the needs of future users, among other factors. Only this way can you add long-term value to the location and the city and make your projects valuable for property owners and users of the real estate.

Distinctive Architectural Features

Of course we aim to incorporate BREEAM-NL 2020 into the architecture as well. In this project, the facades are the most striking feature. Roy Roxs, the architectural designer at Quadrant4, has integrated BREEAM guideline HEA 01 'visual comfort' into the design. "This creates an indoor environment optimized for light levels and views while preventing direct sun exposure."

Outstanding Credit Scores

The Green Square Logistics IV project achieved exceptionally high scores in various aspects. For instance, it scored a impressive rating (no less than 81%) for management, which is a critical component of the certification process. Activities such as project design, life cycle cost analysis, responsible construction site practices, and environmental impact and CO2 emissions monitoring are included in this category.

Reuse and Recycling

Significant attention was given to sustainable construction management on the construction site. Over 90% of the waste produced during the construction phase was reused or recycled, showcasing the close involvement of the executing parties. Additionally, the demolition of the old building was conducted in an environmentally friendly manner, with materials suitable for reuse being incorporated into the new construction.
